Metera
Usage Policy
EFFECTIVE JULY 13, 2026
This Usage Policy defines the rules that govern how the Metera platform may be used by all parties — Consumers (developers and AI agents calling APIs), API Providers (developers listing APIs and MCP servers), and any automated systems interacting with the Service. This policy supplements our Terms of Use. Violations may result in immediate suspension or termination.
1. General Principles
All use of the Metera platform must be lawful, respectful of third-party rights, and consistent with the intended purpose of the Service. The platform is designed to enable AI agents to access data and tools programmatically through a pay-per-call marketplace. Any use that undermines the integrity, availability, or fairness of this system is prohibited.
2. Prohibited Uses — All Users
The following are strictly prohibited on the Metera platform:
- Using the Service to facilitate illegal activities of any kind.
- Transmitting malware, viruses, or other malicious code through API requests or responses.
- Attempting to access, modify, or destroy data belonging to other users.
- Circumventing rate limits, payment requirements, or access controls through any technical means.
- Impersonating Metera, other users, or third-party services.
- Using the platform to generate, distribute, or amplify disinformation, spam, or coordinated inauthentic behavior.
- Reverse-engineering, decompiling, or disassembling any part of the Metera platform.
- Reselling or sublicensing access to Metera infrastructure without written authorization.
3. AI Agent Conduct
AI agents operating through the Metera marketplace are subject to the same rules as human users. The developer or organization deploying an agent is responsible for all actions taken by that agent. Specifically:
- Agents must not issue API calls at rates that constitute abuse or denial-of-service, even if technically within rate limits.
- Agents must not use APIs to harvest personal data at scale for purposes beyond the stated use case.
- Agents must respect robots.txt, rate limits, and terms of service of the underlying data sources accessed through marketplace APIs.
- Autonomous spending by agents must remain within limits configured by the deploying developer.
- Agents must not take irreversible real-world actions (financial, legal, communications) without explicit human authorization in the loop.
4. API Provider Requirements
API Providers listing on the Metera marketplace agree to the following:
- The API must perform as described in the listing. Misleading descriptions are grounds for immediate removal.
- The API must not expose data or functionality that violates any applicable law or third-party agreement.
- Providers must maintain a minimum uptime of 95% on a rolling 30-day basis. Persistent downtime may result in de-listing.
- Providers must not use Metera's routing infrastructure to collect information about Consumers beyond what is necessary to fulfill API requests.
- Providers are responsible for maintaining their own authentication credentials and server security.
- Providers must not list APIs that scrape or redistribute data from third-party services in violation of those services' terms.
- Providers must honor the pricing declared at listing time. Unilateral price changes require 7 days' notice via the dashboard.
5. Rate Limits and Fair Use
Metera enforces rate limits at the platform level to ensure fair access for all users. Current limits are displayed in the developer dashboard and may vary by plan. Consumers who consistently approach or exceed rate limits may be subject to throttling, additional verification requirements, or plan upgrades. Metera reserves the right to adjust rate limits at any time with reasonable notice.
6. Content Restrictions
APIs listed on the marketplace must not facilitate or generate the following categories of content:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content that sexualizes minors.
- Content designed to facilitate real-world violence against specific individuals or groups.
- Detailed instructions for creating weapons of mass destruction (biological, chemical, nuclear, radiological).
- Non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII).
- Content that facilitates financial fraud, identity theft, or phishing.
Metera reserves the right to expand this list as regulatory requirements and community standards evolve.
7. Payment Obligations
Consumers are responsible for ensuring sufficient credits in their account to cover API usage. Metera may suspend API access if credits are exhausted. Disputed charges must be raised within 14 days of the transaction. Providers acknowledge that payment settlement via the Solana blockchain may be subject to network delays and associated gas fees.
8. Data Handling by Providers
API Providers that receive personal data through Metera-routed requests must:
- Process such data only to fulfill the specific API request.
- Not retain personal data beyond the time necessary to complete the request, unless explicitly agreed with the Consumer.
- Maintain appropriate technical and organizational security measures.
- Comply with all applicable data protection laws, including GDPR where applicable.
9. Security Disclosure
If you discover a security vulnerability in the Metera platform or in any API listed on the marketplace, please report it responsibly via Telegram before public disclosure. We commit to acknowledging reports within 72 hours and to working in good faith toward a resolution.
10. Enforcement
Metera monitors platform usage for policy violations. Upon detecting a violation, Metera may, at its sole discretion:
- Issue a warning and request remediation.
- Temporarily suspend API access or listing visibility.
- Permanently terminate the account and revoke all API keys.
- Remove an API listing from the marketplace without refund of listing fees.
- Report illegal activity to the relevant authorities.
Metera will use reasonable judgment in applying these measures and will consider context, severity, and history of violations. However, certain violations (e.g., CSAM, critical security breaches) will result in immediate permanent termination without warning.
11. Changes to This Policy
Metera may update this Usage Policy at any time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
